Play - Doh
Noah and Joseph McVicker - 1955

It was accidentally invented in 1955 by Joseph and Noah McVicker while trying to make a wallpaper cleaner and coal dust remover.

It was later discovered that kids loved to use it as modeling clay, and play-doh was born.

More than 700 million pounds of Play-Doh have sold since then, but the recipe remains secret.









Potato Chip
George Crum - 1853

This snack is widely attributed to this disgruntled chef.

One dinner guest found that Crum's Fries are too thick for his liking and rejected the order, Crum cut them extra thin and the Potato Chip was born.








Chocolate Chip Cookie
Ruth Wakefield - 1930

Wakefield was mixing a batch of cookies for her guest when she ran out of baker's chocolate.

Using a bar of sweet Nestle's Chocolate instead, and expecting it to melt and absorb into the dough. That didn't happen, but the surprising result make her one of the 20th Century's Most Famous Women Inventors.

When she removed the pan from the oven, she invented the new treat.








Viagra
Pfizer - 1998

Developed as a treatment for angina, a heart condition, but with poor results.

Nearly abandoned until the trial volunteers reported some frisky effects.

Thanks to a failed treatment, Viagra is now one of the most prescribed drugs in the world.








LSD (ACID)
Albert Hoffman - 1938

Produced during research into the medicinal uses of crop fungus, the main intention of the synthesis was to obtain a respiratory and circulatory stimulant.

Hoffman accidentally ingested the drugs and discovered its hallucinogenic and powerful effects.

'The Actor'

Picasso's 'The Actor', a $122,323,000 piece, was torn by a woman when she lost her balance and crashed into the artwork in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

It was repaired and glazed 4 months after the accident.








'When it starts dripping from the ceiling'

Modern art piece 'When it starts dripping from the ceiling' , worth $1,054,251 was damaged by a cleaner in Germany.

Thought a layer of paint on the artwork was grime that needed a scrub, the cleaner clean it off.

The damage on the artwork was irretrievable.








Lucian Freud Painting

A Lucian Freud painting worth $240,000 was at an auction house in London where it was going up for sale.

The painting inside a wooden crate was mistaken for being rubbish and empty, it was dumped in a garbage crusher and lost to a landfill.

The painting was on its way to an incinerator when they realized its missing.








19th Century Ecce Homo

Cecilia Gimenez, an 80-year-old Spanish painter tried to restore a 19th Century Ecce Homo.

Her disastrous attempt on restoring the artwork is dubbed to be the Worst Restoration in History.

It soon became a meme.








Paleolithic Cave Paintings

Protestant youth group in France decided to clean up graffiti in 1992.

Instead they rubbed out a 15,000-year-old Priceless Paleolithic cave paintings.

Typhoon Charlie hits Florida, USA
August 13, 2004




The states of Florida were severely affected by the storm causing at around 24 Fatalities and 792 injuries.

Property damage at around $5.4 Billion Dollars (2004 USD) and approximately $285 Million Dollars (2004 USD) in agricultural damage.

Typhoon Charlie is the fifth most costly hurricane in the US history.






Buckingham Palace Bombing, UK
September 13, 1940




During WWII, Nazi's attack the Buckingham Palace destroying the Palace chapel.

Five bombs strike the building, killing and injuring approximately 50 people.
The supply of water, gas, and electricity were severely damage.

German bombers also destroy their houses, railways and their offices.





Black Friday Fires, Australia
January 13, 1939




Series of Bush Fire's ignited across the Australian State of Victoria, resulted as the Highest Ever Loss of life from a Fire Storm accident.

20,000km of land were burnt killing approximately 71 people. Towns have been heavily destroyed. Almost 1,300 homes and 70 sawmills were burnt during the wildfire.

The 1939 Australian bush fires or famously known as " Black Friday Fires" were one of the worst disasters to have ever occurred in Australia and claimed to be one of the worst bush fires in our history.






Kid Struck By Lightning, UK
August 13, 2010




At exactly 1:13 in the afternoon of Friday the 13th, August 13, 2010, a 13 year old boy was hit by a lightning, seen by an ambulance team during an air show in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

The unnamed boy suffered from a minor burn on his shoulder, he was taken and treated to the hospital, and he is doing fine now.

What strange about this is the boy was 13, and it occurred at 13:13 on Friday the 13th. 
The accident was called "13:13"







Tupac Shakur Die
September 13, 1996




The Famous Rapper was gunned down, he was shot 4 times in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996.

He was place on a life support machines and he was put under a coma because of trying to get out of the hospital's bed.

On September 13, 1996, six days after the incident, Tupac Shakur died of internal bleeding.

His murder remains unsolved.
