Noah and Joseph McVicker - 1955

It was accidentally invented in 1955 by Joseph and Noah McVicker while trying to make a wallpaper cleaner and coal dust remover.

It was later discovered that kids loved to use it as modeling clay, and play-doh was born.

More than 700 million pounds of Play-Doh have sold since then, but the recipe remains secret.

Potato Chip

George Crum - 1853

This snack is widely attributed to this disgruntled chef.

One dinner guest found that Crum's Fries are too thick for his liking and rejected the order, Crum cut them extra thin and the Potato Chip was born.

Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ruth Wakefield - 1930

Wakefield was mixing a batch of cookies for her guest when she ran out of baker's chocolate.

Using a bar of sweet Nestle's Chocolate instead, and expecting it to melt and absorb into the dough. That didn't happen, but the surprising result make her one of the 20th Century's Most Famous Women Inventors.

When she removed the pan from the oven, she invented the new treat.

Viagra

Pfizer - 1998

Developed as a treatment for angina, a heart condition, but with poor results.

Nearly abandoned until the trial volunteers reported some frisky effects.

Thanks to a failed treatment, Viagra is now one of the most prescribed drugs in the world.

LSD (ACID)

Albert Hoffman - 1938

Produced during research into the medicinal uses of crop fungus, the main intention of the synthesis was to obtain a respiratory and circulatory stimulant.

Hoffman accidentally ingested the drugs and discovered its hallucinogenic and powerful effects.

Henry Smolinksi

Died - 1973

Invention : Mizar (Flying Car)

Went to test flight the car along with another pilot when he got killed.

The right wing strut of the vehicle (Mizar) detached from the car during the flight.

Bad welds were said to be the cause of the crash.

Henry Winstanley

1644 - 1703

Invention : Eddystone Lighthouse

Having a great faith in his construction, he refused to leave the lighthouse during the Great Storm of 1703, It collapsed and was entirely destroyed.

He was making repairs on the lighthouse when the storm hits.

Otto Lilienthal

1848 - 1896

Invention : Glider

Known as the "Glider King", the first flight he did on August - 1896 were successful.

In the fourth try, he got struck by a gust of wind, his glider stalled during the flight. The maneuver failed and the subsequent 50ft fall broke his spine.

36 hours after the crash Lilienthal died, his last words were " Sacrifices must be made"

Horace Hunley

1823 - 1863

Invention : Submarine

A lawyer who had a thing for submarines, he built and designed 3 different models for the civil war.

When aboard for a routing training exercise, the vessel sank and he got killed.

The other 2 submarines he built also sank.

Franz Reichelt

1879 - 1912

Invention : Parachute Suit

An inventor who made a living as a tailor, he spent his time working on flying parachutes.

The first test was performed using dummies and was successful. When he test it himself, he jumped off the Eiffel Tower and the parachute didn't open.

The 187ft fall onto ground killed him instantly.

Bermuda Triangle

Earths Ocean is gigantic, even in the modern era, it’s not uncommon for a ship or a plane to disappear and get lost in the ocean. In the days before Satellites and GPS this danger was ever present. Certain areas of the world were considered unlucky, some would even say cursed.

The Bermuda Triangle is the most famous of these locations. Also known as the Devils Triangle.

It is generally thought to stretch east from Miami to Bermuda and south to Puerto Rico.

Multiple disasters have been attributed to the triangle, most famously in December of 1945 when 5 Navy Planes allegedly disappear in the area. The list of the accidents on the Bermuda triangle seems to grow each year.

Mainstream scientists have attributed the events are caused by natural causes, from pilot error to bad weather, but could they be wrong?

Some researcher’s aren’t satisfied with these natural explanations. In fact they say the disappearance might be due to something more sinister, strange and mysterious.

Bermuda researchers like Charles Berlitz list a number of supernatural explanations for the activities in the Bermuda triangle.

Although Berlitz himself did not accept the more extraordinary claim, people around the world have held from some bizarre explanations.

Some have claims that the activity in the Bermuda triangle comes from lost technology of the mythical Atlantis.

Others have claimed that the Bermuda triangle covers an area of intense geomagnetic force, similar to Stonehenge.

Of course no mysterious phenomenon is complete without the mention of Aliens.

It gets even weirder when the psychic Edgar Cayce predicted that the Atlantis will be rediscovered, his disciples believe him.

And by their account, he was proven correct with the discovery of the Bimini road.

This under sea formation stretches for half a mile near the north Bimini island in the Bahamas.

Through Cayce followers, the limestone blocks laid across the ocean floor are man made or at least maid by alien civilizations, and proved that Atlantis was originally based somewhere in the Atlantic.

The Bimini road was discovered in 1968, although mainstream scientist largely decided that the formations along the Bimini road are natural rather than manufactured, the debate continues.

Skeptics argue that the Bermuda triangle reputation is solely based on exaggeration, bad research and twisted facts.

The Bermuda triangle is a high traffic area, and although accidents do occur they are proportionately no more frequent in this area than in the other part of the world. This is usually the part where conspiracy theorist alleged a cover up.

So who is correct? While the majority of researchers and scientist agree that the Bermuda triangle mystery has been debunked, the belief persists.

Despite Cayce prophecy, Atlantis has yet to reappear and many of the alleged incidents have upon further investigation turned out to be easily explained, yet even the most committed skeptics must admit, the ocean are vast and we have no idea what they contain.

While mainstream science dismisses the claims of paranormal researchers, they still hold to the original arguments and although many people have given up the debate, the conspiracies and skeptics agree on one thing, only time will tell what lies beneath the waves.

DMT 

Dimethyltryptamine or DMT is naturally occurring compounds made of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen. DMT is present in plants and it occurs naturally in human body. Scientist isn't sure what role DMT plays in human, but plants containing DMT have been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years.

In U.S., DMT is a schedule 1 drug, this substance is illegal under section C, which means there is a lack of accepted safety for use of DMT under medical supervision.

The substance is not addictive, yet thousands of people around the world have use it to experience with some describe as an extra dimensional plain of reality. Vastly different from our own,  but just as real.

According to some researchers, these users may be at least partially correct. It seems that DMT users may have early similar hallucination.

Dr. Rick Strassman, a professor of psychiatry at the University of Mexico, notes that many of the 60 volunteers he exposed to DMT reported experiencing an interaction with some other intelligence.

An Alien presence has communicated with them during their hallucination.

According to Graham Hancock, author of Supernatural, these presences are real. Hancock also believes that these drug use and contact with these creatures dates back thousands of years.

The idea that a psychoactive substance could trigger some sorts of extra sensory contact with non human intelligence is a lot to swallow, especially without proof. While conspiracy theorist and researchers like Hancock argue that the proof is all around the world in ancient religious symbols, the mainstream did not consider this as an objective fact.

Prof Strassman is attempting to find the biological explanations for the effects of DMT, and he believes the answer may lie on Pineal Gland. Strassman theorizes that the Pineal Gland may be the source of human DMT production.

Yet it’s difficult to believe that a vast government conspiracy these strange could exist without solid proof. And the current scientific research seems to produce more questions.

Why does DMT occur naturally in the human body? Why do high amounts of DMT cause users to experience such similar lucid hallucinations?

Is DMT just a powerful hallucinogenic substance? Or something else?

Infected PCs were used to spread spam and steal identities.

Storm Worm spread to millions of computers around the world and it is accounted for 8% of all malware infections globally.

Slammer

(2003)

Computer virus that caused a denial of service on some Internet hosts, it dramatically slowed down general Internet traffic.

It spread rapidly, and estimated to have infected 75,000 machines within 10 minutes.

The virus was so aggressive, some countries thought it was an organized attack.

CIH

(1998)

Also known as Chernobyl Virus, it triggers on April 26, the anniversary of the disaster.

It is one of the Most Damaging viruses, overwriting information on infected system drives and effectively paralyses a computer.

60 million computers were believed to be infected internationally, resulting in an estimated $1 Billion US dollars in commercial damages.

ILOVEYOU

(2000)

Sometimes referred to as Love Letter, it was designed to steal Internet access passwords.

The virus did damage on the local machine, overwriting image files and sent a copy of itself to the first 50 addresses in the Windows Address Book.

With over 50 million infections, even the Pentagon and CIA had to shut down their e-mails.

Cecilia Gimenez, an 80-year-old Spanish painter tried to restore a 19th Century Ecce Homo.

Protestant youth group in France decided to clean up graffiti in 1992.

Instead they rubbed out a 15,000-year-old Priceless Paleolithic cave paintings.
