Picasso's 'The Actor', a $122,323,000 piece, was torn by a woman when she lost her balance and crashed into the artwork in the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

It was repaired and glazed 4 months after the accident.








'When it starts dripping from the ceiling'

Modern art piece 'When it starts dripping from the ceiling' , worth $1,054,251 was damaged by a cleaner in Germany.

Thought a layer of paint on the artwork was grime that needed a scrub, the cleaner clean it off.

The damage on the artwork was irretrievable.








Lucian Freud Painting

A Lucian Freud painting worth $240,000 was at an auction house in London where it was going up for sale.

The painting inside a wooden crate was mistaken for being rubbish and empty, it was dumped in a garbage crusher and lost to a landfill.

The painting was on its way to an incinerator when they realized its missing.








19th Century Ecce Homo

Cecilia Gimenez, an 80-year-old Spanish painter tried to restore a 19th Century Ecce Homo.

Her disastrous attempt on restoring the artwork is dubbed to be the Worst Restoration in History.

It soon became a meme.








Paleolithic Cave Paintings

Protestant youth group in France decided to clean up graffiti in 1992.

Instead they rubbed out a 15,000-year-old Priceless Paleolithic cave paintings.
